Open Bitches – This class was large and had thirty-two entries. The winner of this class was Jubilee Triplestar Apogee SC, a very elegant brindle parti that caught my eye as she entered the ring. She did not disappoint me when she was examined. She was a substantial female, moderate with no exaggeration with a pleasing head and expression. Her topline flowed nicely into her well let down hocks. Up and back movement was flawless. Showed at moderate speed she exhibited an open easy side gait never letting her handler down. Balanced front and rear angulation. Complementary topline to underline. This was my eventual reserve winner’s bitch and one that I would like to take home. Her overall quality was superior.  Well what more can be said? We had a fantastic American Whippet Club National Specialty 2016 in San Diego, CA. In 6-9 puppy dogs, our boy "Aidan" (TripleStar Handsome Devil) was placed 2nd in a lovely bunch of puppy dogs. In 6-9 puppy girls, our 3 pups showed beautifully, "Penny" (TripleStar & Destiny Penny's From Heaven at Pinewood) was wild and joyous, "Wisp" (TripleStar Lighter Than Air) made the cuts to 5th place but ultimately their sister Jazmine (TripleStar & Destiny's Mystic Romance) placed 1st in the class. In American Bred Bitches, "Francie" (Winway Francie Fairchild at TripleStar) placed 2nd in a quality entry. To top all of this off, "GG" (BIF FC Jubilee TripleStar Apogee, SC) placed 1st in Open Bitches and on to Reserve Winners Bitch for a National Specialty major. As a breeder-owner-handler, I could not be more proud of the appreciation and nice comments from judge and fellow exhibitors on all of my hounds. My sincerest thanks to judge Dr. Barbara Henderson of Whippoorwill Whippets for these honors. And as always, a huge thanks to my friends and mentors who have stuck by us.  The new year has begun and things have been busy here at TripleStar Hounds! We have been focusing on Lure Coursing and Whippets Remington (Ch Lishima's All Fired up at TripleStar, SC, CGC ) and GG (BIF Jubilee TripleStar Apogee, SC) are getting close to finishing their Master Courser (MC) titles. GG is also almost done with her hard-earned Field Championship (FC) and we could not be more proud of her! Billy the Ibizan Hound (Ch Ahram's Rebel Yell at TripleStar, JC) Qualified to course (QC) and earned his Junior Courser (JC) title. He has also been picking up Grand Champion (GCH) points when available at conformation shows.
The American Whippet Club National Specialty will be upon us April 23 through May 1st, 2016, held in San Diego, California. We are gearing up for this big event and very excited to attend. I am the catalog advertising show chair and happy to help. I am also on the committee for the American Whippet Club Western Specialty to be held on July 7th at the new location of Cal State Channel Islands in Camarillo. The entire Summerfest shows will be held at this location instead of the Ventura County fairgrounds for 2016. If it goes well, we will see what will happen location wise for the following years. Our new show prospects are looking wonderful and have just turned 6 months today. Expect to see them hitting the show ring fairly soon! I will be holding some back to be selectively shown and will proudly be presenting them in the Futurity puppy classes at the 2016 AWC National Specialty. This year holds much promise! We wish all of our wonderful partners and hound owners the best of luck in everything.
